Discover the Secrets of Lampworking in an Intimate, Hands-on Course in the Heart of Venice

Hello, aspiring glass artists and curious souls!

I'm Mauro Vianello, and if you are reading this page, you probably already know something about me. I’m a master glassmaker in Venice, inviting you to step into my workshop and delve into the centuries-old craft of lampworking in the heart of its birthplace. Have you ever imagined creating your very own Murano glass bead? With my hands-on courses, that dream can come vividly to life.

Imagine holding a piece of Venetian history in your hands, molding it with fire and breath into a beautiful glass bead. You don’t need any prior experience, just a desire to learn and immerse yourself in the magical world of glassmaking. Whether you are deeply passionate about glass art or just looking for a unique experience during your Venetian journey, my course is designed to accommodate both seasoned artists and complete beginners.

Course Overview

Each course is intimately sized to ensure you receive personalized guidance, accommodating no more than five participants at a time. This assures plenty of one-on-one interaction with me as I walk you through the intricacies of lampworking – from handling the tools and understanding the materials to the crucial processes that go into crafting a perfect Murano glass bead.

During the first hour, I will introduce you to the lampworking tools and techniques, giving you essential insights and hands-on practice. Don't worry about coming unprepared; I take pride in ensuring that by the end of our session, you'll confidently create your own glass masterpieces.

The courses, which run for a minimum of three hours, are held directly in my Venice workshop. Here, you will embrace the heritage of Murano in an environment echoing with creativity and tradition. And remember, the unique pieces you craft will be yours to keep, ready for pickup approximately two hours post-course following proper annealing — a step essential to ensuring the durability and safety of your glass art.

Mauro and I spent time ‘one on one’ in his Studio; he shared his knowledge and tecniques generously with me. He watched me work and in a short time he improved my skills in numerous ways by offering different perspectives on flameworking glass. The hours spent together were fruitful and I am grateful for all the knowledge I received.
